Improve Your Dating Life with a Smile Makeover

What is the first thing you notice about someone you're meeting for the first time? Physical features make an enormous first impression, especially in the dating arena. In fact, 48 percent of people surveyed said that a smile is the feature they remember most about meeting a new person. Teeth can make or break your social life!

The Science Behind a Great Smile
Researchers with Kelton Global recently studied the impact of an attractive smile on a first impression. Participants looked at photos of different people and their initial (three-second) reaction was recorded. The study revealed that individuals with nice teeth and smiles were viewed as more attractive, successful, friendly and popular. Additionally, people with crooked teeth were looked at as unsuccessful, unfriendly, unpopular, and even untrustworthy.

Your Teeth and Your Love Life
Most people won't judge you solely on your teeth, but they will form an initial impression. Individuals with bad teeth may find it challenging to score that first date and thus difficult to enjoy a successful love life. "Bad teeth" might be misaligned, cracked, gapped, or discolored. Individuals with unappealing teeth may be hesitant to smile, making them appear unfriendly or uninteresting.

Even online dating can be uneventful for those with unattractive teeth. The Kelton Global study found that the likelihood of attracting someone on a dating site (with a photo alone) was 55 percent with good teeth and 35 percent with bad teeth.
